Botswana Agate Necklace, Oxidized Sterling Silver Celtic Spiral Links Chain
Wonderful all natural bezel set Botswana agate stone pendant on a handcrafted necklace chain. The necklace is made of matching spiral links, tiny rings and natural smoky quartz beads that complement the agate stone perfectly!
I'm always mesmerized by the beauty of the seemingly minimalist Botswana agate patterns. It's amazing how a few simple lines can be so eye-catching. This one is especially nice with the color gradually fading into neutral gray at the edges, and the full "eye" captured in the cabochon.
The "eye" in this agate is in shades of subtle pastel pink. On the sides it's framed by a wide band of brown surrounded by wavy gray layers divided with clean white lines. So pretty!
I also cut a "window" at the back of the bezel that shows the "picture" for your eyes only :) The pattern visible on the back is even more minimalist, almost zen.
- Length of the necklace - approx. 54cm (21.25 inches) plus 5cm extension dangle (+2 inches)
- The pendant is 4.5cm tall (1.8 inches)
- All metal is solid 925 sterling silver
The design of this necklace was inspired by the beautiful two tone Botswana agate itself - triangular shape of the stone and layered circle pattern is echoed in handcrafted Celtic spiral components I used both in a necklace chain and on the bezel setting.
For the bead links I picked smooth smoky quartz beads, and smaller faceted smoky quartz to go around the neck. These beads go very nice with the agate but being rather neutral they complement the design rather than distract and detract attention.
All necklace components are connected using tiny soldered rings - sets of two on the sides of the spiral links and singles between small beads - this allows for great flexibility and also lets the necklace lay nice and flat against the skin without beads "climbing" at the joints.
This necklace was oxidized (antiqued) and meticulously hand polished.
Necklace closes with a convenient lobster clasp.
